“Optimizing Antimicrobial Use to Prevent Antimicrobial Resistance in Newborns” with this theme for the year 2024, department of Child Health Nursing, KINS observed National Newborn Week (15 - 21st November) on  November 21, 2024 at KIMS Auditorium from 2 pm to 5 pm. Approximately 3.5 million babies are born prematurely in India, and one million newborns are discharged from Special Newborn Care Units (SNCUs) annually. Perinatal asphyxia is an important preventable cause of neonatal mortality and morbidity, and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) is the most effective tool to reduce perinatal asphyxia. To develop hands on skill and attitude among students in basic neonatal procedure, Indian academy of pediatrics conducted a workshop for nursing students. Obstetric & Gynecological Nursing and Child Health Nursing department of KINS, KIIT DU celebrated World Breast Feeding Week 2024 (1 st - 7 th week). This year theme was “Closing the gap: Breastfeeding support for all”. To disseminate this knowledge, a community extension program was conducted in slum areas of Niladri vihar by B.Sc Nursing 6 th semester on 3 rd August from 10 am to 11 am.
