Department of Community Health Nursing of Kalinga Institute of Nursing Sciences (KINS), a constituent of KIIT-DU, under the guidance of Dr. Niyati Das, Principal and Dr. Anasuya Pattanayak, HOD,CHN dept. KINS observed World AIDS Day 2024 on 30th November 2024 on the theme “Take The rights Path, my Health, my Right.” for the year 2024.
In an attempt to create awareness of prevention of HIV/AIDS, the Community Department of KINS,KIIT Deemed to be University observed ‘AIDS Awareness Day’ rally on 30.12.2024 from 9.00 AM to 12.00 Noon. Our nursing students campaigned in UHTC Niladrivihar to spread the message about rights of the infected persons and prevention of HIV/AIDS. The aim of the program was to bring attention to the growing number of people living long and full lives with HIV and about their health and social needs and also to educate the general mass about the prevention and treatment of HIV. The Students of GNM 1st year actively took part in the rallies throughout the community area of niladrivihar.
A poster presentation was organized to assess the knowledge on AIDS among students of GNM , B.SC and MSc. Nursing students which is followed by a panel Discussion by M.sc 1st year Community Health nursing department students. The formal meetings was inaugurated by the chief Guest Dr. Gunurani pattnaik, Director Nursing, Resource person Mrs. Bibhuda BijayaLaxmi, Consultant Nursing , Bhubaneswar given talk on the topic “PROGRAME FOR PREVENTION & CONTROL OF HIV AIDS”. Welcome address was given by Prof.Kalyani Rath, Vice-Principal, KINS. Theme was unfold by Dr. Anasuya Pattanayak, HOD Dept. of community Health Nursing.
Health care setting emphasizing on the role of nursing personnel in breaking the barrier. Resource person was also define the scope of Ombudsman and community engagement in Ministry of health & Family Welfare, National AIDS control Organization and State Aids Control Societies for implementation and Monitoring of the programme. She mentioned the new DISHA Cluster Organogram on AIDS prevention and virtually intervention of newer initiatives in NACP-V.
All GNM 1st year, BSc Nursing 5th and 7th semester and MSc. Nursing 1st year students attended seminar at KIDS auditorium in the presence of the students and faculties of KINS. Prizes and certificate were distributed among winners of the poster competition. Vote of thanks was given by Assistant Prof. Mrs. TruptiRekha Swain, Kins.
