Obstetric & Gynecological Nursing and Child Health Nursing department of KINS, KIIT DU celebrated World Breast Feeding Week 2024 (1 st – 7 th week). This year theme was “Closing the
gap: Breastfeeding support for all”. To disseminate this knowledge, a community extension program was conducted in slum areas of Niladri vihar by B.Sc Nursing 6 th semester on 3 rd August from 10 am to 11 am. Through a socio-drama, a group of students highlighted on importance and proper positioning of breastfeeding and they focused on family’s role in it. This program was successful by active participation of community people and later on, refreshment was provided to the community participants. On 5 th August, to create awareness on breastfeeding, a theme based
face painting competition was organised among students from GNM and BSc Nursing stream. This was judged by Ms Vaishali Sethi, Associate Professor, KIIT school of fashion technology& Mrs Sushree Smita Behura, Associate Professor, Dept. Of Pediatrics, KIMS, PBMH. They appreciated the student’s talent and presented awards with certificates to winners. The esteemed judges were felicitated with sapling. This was followed by a virtual guest talk on the eve of celebration of World Breastfeeding week 2024. On this context, Prof.(Dr.)Niyati Das, Principal, KINS welcomed Dr. Sujata Sawant, Principal, Dr.D.Y. Patil Institute of Nursing Education, Pimpri, Pune to deliver expertise talk. During her talk, she emphasized on management of breastfeeding and importance of human milk bank. At the end, she interacted with students clarified their various doubts. The whole program was successfully accomplished under the guidance of Mrs. Purnima Sahoo, Asso. Prof., dept. of child health nursing and Mrs. Anusuya Behera, Asst. Prof.,dept. of obstestrics and gynecological Nursing, KINS, KIIT DU.
