KINS believe that PhD scholars

• Discover and extend scientific knowledge that advances the science and practice of nursing and contribute to other disciplines.
• Generate new knowledge through research and testing of theory
• Examine the trends and factors that influence the generation of new knowledge and its use in health care.
• Contribute to solutions that advance health care in a culturally diverse society through communication of knowledge to the professional, public, scientific communities of interest and policy makers.
• Reflect a nursing and interdisciplinary perspective in research and scholarly endeavors.

Program Educational Objectives

The PhD Nursing program of KINS, KIIT Deemed to be University aims to prepare the following program educational objectives through which they will be able to:

PEO1. Develop and evaluate theories and integrate, synthesize expand knowledge from nursing, human development and related disciplinary in order to explain and predict nursing phenomena.

PEO2. Design and Study independently as well as collaborate with other clinician & researchers.

PEO3. Disseminate research finding and advanced competence in the field of nursing and Practice as a nurse super specialist and independent nurse practitioner

PEO4. Demonstrate leadership qualities, skills and functions as an effective leader cum manager.

Program Outcomes POs

As per the following program outcomes the PhD scholars from the KINS, KIIT Deemed to be University will be able to:

PO1 – Demonstrate skill on applied principles of Research and statistics which includes competencies in data analysis & generates meaningful evidence using   scientific   methodologies to improve healthcare.

PO2 – Understand the evolving roles and responsibilities of a nurse in development of nursing theories.

PO3 – Apply the principles of Epidemiology and Biostatistics in health practice including the design and implementation of health related research studies and clinical preventive medicine trails.

PO4 – Acquire adequate knowledge and appropriate skills for optimal dealing with major health problems of all the age group to ensure their optimal health.

PO5 – Use advanced clinical judgment and accountability in delivering & evaluating evidence based care to improve patient outcome

PO6 – Critical Thinking: Take informed actions after identifying the assumptions that frame our thinking and actions, checking out the degree to which these assumptions are accurate and valid, and looking at our ideas and decisions (intellectual, organizational, and personal) from different perspectives.

PO7 – Effective Communication: Speak, read, write and listen clearly in person and through electronic media in English and in one Indian language, and make meaning of the world by connecting people, ideas, books, media and technology.

PO8 – Social Interaction: Elicit views of others, mediate disagreements and help reach conclusions in group settings.

SCHEME OF EXAMINATION

The scheme of Pre Ph.D. examination to be conducted by the University shall be as follows.

* > = 60% of marks will be considered as pass

Note: 70% attendance is compulsory for contact hours. If the student does not have 70%, he/she will not allowed appear for the examination; however they have to make up for the same next academic year.
