OVERVIEW
The PhD Programme in Nursing was launched with the objective of enabling the Nursing personnel to develop advance research skills in nursing and to prepare the nurse educators, administrators and practitioners to carry out systematic research to improve the quality of nursing care. The program will enable the nursing personnel to give evidence – based nursing care to patients / clients in various settings. The PhD program in nursing is designed to develop nurse scholars experts in nursing pedagogy and are prepared to conduct advanced research. Nurse scholar will synthesize knowledge from nursing and related disciplines as they assume leadership roles in diverse educational environment. The program is designed for nurses interested in pursuing a career in academia with a research focus on nursing education with nursing core courses, research courses and support courses.

Program Educational Objectives
The PhD Nursing program of KINS, KIIT Deemed to be University aims to prepare the following program educational objectives through which they will be able to:
PEO1. Develop and evaluate theories and integrate, synthesize expand knowledge from nursing, human development and related disciplinary in order to explain and predict nursing phenomena.
PEO2. Design and Study independently as well as collaborate with other clinician & researchers.
PEO3. Disseminate research finding and advanced competence in the field of nursing and Practice as a nurse super specialist and independent nurse practitioner
PEO4. Demonstrate leadership qualities, skills and functions as an effective leader cum manager.

PO1 – Demonstrate skill on applied principles of Research and statistics which includes competencies in data analysis & generates meaningful evidence using scientific methodologies to improve healthcare.
PO2 – Understand the evolving roles and responsibilities of a nurse in development of nursing theories.
PO3 – Apply the principles of Epidemiology and Biostatistics in health practice including the design and implementation of health related research studies and clinical preventive medicine trails.
PO4 – Acquire adequate knowledge and appropriate skills for optimal dealing with major health problems of all the age group to ensure their optimal health.
PO5 – Use advanced clinical judgment and accountability in delivering & evaluating evidence based care to improve patient outcome
PO6 – Critical Thinking: Take informed actions after identifying the assumptions that frame our thinking and actions, checking out the degree to which these assumptions are accurate and valid, and looking at our ideas and decisions (intellectual, organizational, and personal) from different perspectives.
