The Kalinga Institute of Nursing Sciences (KINS), a constituent of KIIT-Deemed-to-be-University, hosted the highly anticipated “KAZE” Welcome Ceremony on 31 January 2025 in the newly inaugurated campus of KINS. This ceremony marked the official induction of the new M.Sc, BSc, and GNM nursing students into the esteemed nursing community. This event celebrated the students’ decision to pursue a career dedicated to service, care, and compassion in the healthcare sector.
The ceremony theme, “KAZE,” symbolized a fresh beginning for the nursing students. The word “KAZE” encapsulates the idea of new winds of change and growth, representing the journey the students are about to embark upon in their academic and professional lives. The ceremony was designed to inspire and motivate students as they step into a field that is both challenging and rewarding.
The program commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by distinguished dignitaries, including the Hon’ble Founder of KIIT, KISS & KIMS, Dr. (Prof.) Achyuta Samanta, Dr.(Prof.) Niyati Das, Principal(CON), KINS, Brig. Dr. Ambika Prasad Mohanty, Director (School of Nursing, School of Allied Sciences, School of Pharmacy & School of Physiotherapy), KIMS, AVM Prof. R.C. Das, Dean & Principal, KIMS, Dr.(Prof) Manas Ranjan Behera, Medical Superintendent of KIMS, PBMH and Advisor to Fonder Dr. R.N. Samanta, KIIT Deemed to be University. The second year students of KINS welcomed the dignitaries & newly admitted students with a beautiful song. The ceremony commenced with a warm welcome by the Dr.(Prof.) Niyati Das, Principal(CON), KINS, who emphasized the noble role of nurses in society and encouraged the students to approach their studies with dedication and compassion. The Principal of KINS further emphasized the institution’s commitment for providing world-class education, reassuring the students that they would receive full support in their academic endeavors.
The Hon’ble Founder of KIIT, KISS & KIMS, Dr. (Prof.) Achyuta Samanta shared his vision of education as a means to empower individuals to serve society, especially in the healthcare field. He acknowledged the parents of newly admitted students for selecting this prestigious institution for perusing their career.
Brig. Dr. Ambika Prasad Mohanty, Director(School of Nursing, School of Allied Sciences, School of Pharmacy & School of Physiotherapy), KIMS, KIIT Deemed to be University, addressed the gathering and welcomed the students. He motivated the students and emphasized the trends and demands of the nursing profession and its expanded roles. He highlighted the different awardees from Odisha in the field of nursing.
Dr.(Prof) Manas Ranjan Behera, Medical Superintendent of KIMS, PBMH has given the idea regarding the infrastructure of KIMS and how the students can learn and experience the different advance procedures from the hospital
AVM Prof. R.C. Das, Dean & Principal, KIMS, KIIT-DU, shared his views about nursing skills and importance of nursing profession and congratulated the newly joined students for choosing KIIT DU,The Institute of Eminence as their alma ata.
The ceremony concluded with a Vote of Thanks by the Prof. Kalyani Rath, Vice-Principal of KINS, who expressed gratitude to the dignitaries, faculty, and parents, and extended best wishes to the students as they embarked on their nursing journey.
On the Occasion Mr. Fresher award was given to Mr. Subhodeep Bakra, M. sc. (N) 1st year, Mr. Atul Mishra, B. Sc.(N) 1st year, Mr. Debasish Rath, GNM 1st year, and Miss fresher award was given to Ms. Sagarika Mohanta, MSc 1st Year, Ms. Raj Nandini Kumari, B. sc.(N) 1st year and Ms. Suchismita Parida, GNM 1st yr.
The event symbolized the beginning of the students’ professional paths and was a celebration of their commitment to the nursing profession, embodying values of care, compassion, and service.
