A seminar on Empowered Nursing: Driving Excellence Through Self-Reflection, Collaboration & Accountability was organized by Kalinga Institute of Nursing Sciences, KIIT-DU, BBSR-24 on 12th June, 2025 from 02.00pm. to 5.00 pm in KIMS auditorium aims to enhance nursing practice by fostering self-awareness, promoting effective teamwork, and instilling a strong sense of professional responsibility. The session commenced with the anchoring by Mrs Soumyashree Bose, Tutor, Dept of Mental Health Nursing , who warmly welcomed the esteemed speakers and participants, setting a collaborative tone for the seminar.
The 1st speaker of the event Mr. Chandan Pradhan, Asso.Prof, DEPT OF Medical Surgical Nursing elaborated on “Self Assessment”. He emphasized that the reflective process where nurses critically evaluate their own skills, knowledge, and professional behavior to identify strengths and areas for improvement, thereby fostering continuous professional development and enhancing patient care . The 2nd topic of the event was “Quality Assurance: Continuous quality improvement” which was discussed by Mrs. Soumya Sonalika Asso.Prof.Dept OF Community Health Nursing. She highlighted CQI as a systematic, data-driven approach in healthcare that focuses on ongoing assessment and enhancement of processes, safety, and patient care to achieve incremental and sustainable improvements in outcomes and efficiency. In the third session, Mrs. Debajani Sahoo, Assistant Professor in the Department of Mental Health Nursing, delivered a lecture on “Clinical Coordination.” She emphasized that while clinical competence is essential, soft skills,such as effective communication, empathy, and teamwork—are foundational to delivering compassionate and safe patient care.
Collectively the sessions underscored the multifaceted nature of nursing excellence, encompassing self-reflection, continuous improvement, and effective coordination.After the sessions, vote of thanks was proposed by Mrs. Soumyashree Bose Tutor, Dept Of Mental Health Nursing
