The Lamp Lighting and Oath Taking Ceremony for the B.Sc. Nursing (205 students) and GNM (50 students) batches of 2025–26 were successfully conducted on 18th April 2026 at the KIMS Auditorium, Bhubaneswar. The Kalinga Institute of Nursing Sciences marked a significant milestone in the lives of budding nurses as they formally entered into the noble profession of nursing.

The program commenced at 3:00 PM with the welcoming of dignitaries to the dais, followed by the ceremonial lamp lighting, symbolizing knowledge, compassion, and the beginning of a dedicated journey in healthcare. Prof. Dr. Niyati Das, Principal of KINS, delivered the welcome address, extending greetings to the distinguished guests and emphasizing the values of empathy, discipline, and professional commitment essential in nursing.

The ceremony was further enriched by insightful addresses from eminent personalities, including Renuka Das, Former Principal, College of Nursing, Cancer Hill Hospital, MP and Gitanjali Mohanta, Nursing Superintendent, PBMH, KIMS who highlighted the importance of ethical practice, patient-centered care, and lifelong learning in the nursing profession.

The central highlight of the event was the Lamp Lighting Ceremony, where students lit candles symbolizing the transmission of knowledge and the spirit of Florence Nightingale. This was followed by the Oath Taking Ceremony sweared by Prof. Kalyani Rath, Vice-Principal, KINS, during which the students solemnly pledged to uphold the dignity, ethics, and responsibilities of the nursing profession in the presence of faculty members of KINS, along with the Nursing Superintendent and Deputy Nursing Superintendent of PBMH, KIMS.

The program concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Mr. Asokan R, Professor and Head of the Department of Medical-Surgical Nursing, KINS, who expressed heartfelt gratitude to all dignitaries, faculty members, and students for their contributions to the success of the event.

The ceremony was conducted smoothly and reflected the institution’s commitment to nurturing competent and compassionate nursing professionals, making it a memorable and inspiring occasion for all attendees.
