M.SC Nursing 2ndyear Child Health Nursing specialty students of Kalinga Institute ofNursing Sciences (KINS), KIIT DU conducted an In-service education on 19thmarch, 2026 at demonstration class room of Block – E, KIMS Hospital with the theme of “Right Scale, Right Care”. The aim of this program was to enlighten the importance of using the appropriate pain assessment scale based on the children’s age group for early identification & better care.
The program was started by Ms. Shreya Banerjee with introduction & unfolding the theme of in-service education program. There was a pre- test session for the nursing officers & nursing in-charges to identify their gaps & knowledge levels. The session was continued by Mrs.PushpaKumari Singh, discussed about the pain scale assessment in the neonates & preterm babies. ThenMs. Shreyasi Lal discussed about the pain scale assessment for infants, toddler & pre- schooler age group & rest of the developmental age group’s i.e. schooler& adolescents pain scale assessment is covered by Ms. PallaviNayek. End of the discussion there was a post-test session arranged by Ms. Sukanya Bhattacharya. At the end, a good interactive session was carried out with audience.
This program was attended by around 30 numbers of participants including Nursing officers, ward In-charges of all pediatric wards (medicine, surgery & hematology), KIMS and faculties of child health nursing department, KINS. It was indeed successful with positive feedback from audience.
Ms. Tapaswini Jena, address the gathering and advocated the practice of right scale for right child in the clinical setup. The program was successfully wrapped up with a vote of thanks by Mrs. Purnima Sahoo, Associate Professor, Child Health Nursing Department, KINS, KIIT DU.
