Report on Guest Lecture on“Application of Mixed Method Research
Organized by KINS on 7th January 2026

The Kalinga Institute of Nursing Sciences (KINS) successfully organized a guest lecture on 7th January 2026 on the topic “Application of Mixed Method Research”. The session started with a welcome address by Prof. KalyaniRath, Vice-Principal, KINS& was hosted by Dr. Debjani Sahoo, Asst. Prof, KINS aiming to enhance research understanding and methodological skills among faculty members and postgraduate nursing students.

The guest lecture was delivered by Dr. Sunita Panda, Assistant Professor, College of Nursing, Trinity University, Dublin, Ireland. Dr. Sunita Panda is a renowned and experienced academician and researcher. Her international exposure and expertise added significant value to the academic discourse of the session.

The program was attended by faculty members and M.Sc. Nursing 1st and 2nd year students, who actively participated throughout the lecture. The presence of esteemed academicians further enriched the session. Mrs. Dharitri Swain, Assistant Professor, AIIMS Bhubaneswar, and Dr. Anuradha Panda, Principal & Dean, SUM II, Bhubaneswar, graced the occasion. Their presence added academic depth and encouragement to the participants.

During the lecture, Dr. Sunita Panda elaborated on the concept of mixed method research, emphasizing its importance in integrating both qualitative and quantitative approaches to address complex research problems in healthcare and nursing. She discussed practical applications, design types, data collection strategies, and interpretation techniques with relevant examples from her research experience. The session was highly interactive, with participants engaging in discussions and clarifying methodological doubts.

The lecture proved to be highly informative and insightful, significantly contributing to the research competencies of the participants. It encouraged students and faculty to adopt mixed method approaches in their future research endeavors, thereby promoting evidence-based practice in nursing.
