Prof.Asokan R., Kalinga Institute of Nursing Sciences, KIIT (DU) had the honoured to serve as a resource personin the National conference on “Integrating the power of AI in Nursing”, organized by Tagore College of Nursing, Tagore Medical College & Hospital,Rathinamangalam, Chennai, on 07th August 2026. The conference brought together nursing faculty, healthcare professionals, researchers, educators, and technology experts to explore the transformative potential of Artificial Intelligence in nursing and healthcare.
I was invited to deliver a resource session on “Advancing AI initiatives in Nursing academics.” The session focused on the emerging role of AI in strengthening nursing education, academic processes, research, and faculty and student preparedness. The discussion highlighted the need for responsible and purposeful integration of AI tools into nursing curricula and academic practices. Emphasis was also placed on developing AI literacy, critical thinking, digital competencies, and the ability to use AI while maintaining professional accountability.
The conference also featured a Panel discussion on “AI in Nursing: Balancing opportunities with ethical challenges,” which provided an important platform for me to deliberating on the opportunities and ethical considerations associated with AI adoption in nursing. The panel discussion encouraged meaningful reflection on issues such as responsible use of AI, ethical decision-making, data privacy, professional accountability, and maintaining the human element in nursing care and education.
Overall, the conference provided an enriching academic platform for sharing knowledge, exchanging experiences, and exploring innovative approaches to integrating AI into nursing education, clinical practice, and research. Participation as a resource person provided an opportunity to contribute to the academic discourse on AI in nursing and to interact with nursing educators and professionals working towards technology-enabled and future-ready nursing education.
