The Kalinga Institute of Nursing Sciences (KINS), KIIT-Deemed to be University, proudly reports the participation of its faculty members as Resource Persons in a two-day Continuing Nursing Education (CNE) program organized by the TNAI Odisha State Branch under the theme “Holistic Nursing Care for 21st Century Healthcare.”
The program aimed to enhance participants’ competencies in delivering comprehensive patient care by integrating the physical, psychological, social, and spiritual dimensions of nursing practice. It served as an academic platform for knowledge exchange, professional development, and promotion of evidence-based and patient-centred care.

Faculty Participation

Dr. Soumya Sonalika, Associate Professor, KINS

Delivered expert sessions on Day 1, focusing on Patient Welfare and Professional Behavior. The key areas addressed included:

  • Nutrition, Hydration & Sleep Management: Emphasis on dietary requirements, maintenance of fluid balance, and strategies for effective sleep regulation in patients.
  • Professional Ethics & Legal Aspects: Discussion on the nursing code of ethics, patient rights, confidentiality, and medico-legal responsibilities in clinical practice.

Mrs. Nibedita Mohanty, Associate Professor, KINS

Delivered expert sessions on Day 2, focusing on Patient Comfort and Therapeutic Interaction. The key areas addressed included:

  • Pain Management & Comfort Measures: Comprehensive overview of pharmacological and non-pharmacological interventions to alleviate pain and promote patient comfort.
  • Therapeutic Communication Skills: Practical approaches for building empathy, rapport, and effective nurse–patient relationships to ensure holistic care delivery.

The program commenced with a formal inaugural session introducing the distinguished experts and outlining the objectives, with a strong emphasis on evidence-based practice and comprehensive patient-centered care. The scientific sessions encompassed a diverse range of contemporary and relevant topics, including:

  • Spiritual Dimensions of Care: Techniques for assessing and supporting patients’ beliefs and values as part of holistic healing.
  • Technology in Nursing: Exploration of modern technological tools and digital innovations enhancing nursing efficiency and patient outcomes.
  • Nurse Well-being: Strategies for stress management, mindfulness practices, and prevention of professional burnout among nursing professionals.

The valedictory session acknowledged and honored the valuable contributions of the Resource Persons. The overall success of the program was attributed to the dynamic leadership of Dr. Anasuya Pattanayak, President, TNAI Odisha State Branch, and Dr. Ritanjali Sahoo, Secretary, TNAI Odisha State Branch, Mrs. Sanghamitra Barik, Principal Sabarmati SON & Dr. Pravati Tripathy, Director, SUM Nursing College along with the dedicated efforts of the organizing committee and participating institutions.

The Resource Persons expressed their appreciation for the opportunity to contribute to such a scholarly gathering, describing the scientific deliberations and program coordination as “truly commendable” and the overall experience as “highly enriching for both speakers and participants.”
