Dr. Soumya Sonalika, Associate Professor, Kalinga Institute of Nursing Sciences (KINS), KIIT Deemed to be University, Bhubaneswar, had the privilege of serving as a resource speaker at the 1st International Conference – 2026, organized by the Trained Nurses’ Association of India (TNAI), Odisha State Branch, Dr. Anasuya Pattanayak, President inaugurated the ceremony in collaboration with the College of Nursing, Berhampur and Kasturba College of Nursing, Ganjam, held on 31st January 2026 at the Auditorium, College of Nursing, Berhampur in hybrid mode.

The conference was conducted under the theme “Unite, Prevent, Protect, Prevail: Together Towards Safer Healthcare,” focusing on strengthening patient safety, healthcare quality, interdisciplinary collaboration, and professional empowerment of nurses. The event brought together nursing professionals, academicians, researchers, administrators, and healthcare practitioners from national and international platforms, creating a global academic environment for knowledge sharing and professional development.

I delivered a scientific lecture titled “Protecting the Caregiver to Protect the Patient: Resilience, Well-being, and Safety Culture.” The session emphasized the critical role of healthcare worker well-being in ensuring patient safety and quality care outcomes. The presentation highlighted the relationship between caregiver burnout, occupational stress, and patient safety incidents. It also addressed strategies for promoting resilience among healthcare professionals through organizational support, mental health promotion, safe workplace practices, and development of a positive safety culture in healthcare settings.

The session focused on evidence-based approaches to strengthen workforce sustainability and improve patient outcomes by ensuring psychological, emotional, and professional well-being of healthcare providers. The lecture also emphasized leadership roles of nurses in fostering supportive work environments and implementing institutional policies that promote staff welfare and patient safety.

The presentation generated active academic discussion and interaction among participants, reflecting the relevance of caregiver well-being in modern healthcare systems. Delegates from academic institutions and clinical settings expressed appreciation for the practical strategies and research-based insights shared during the session.

The conference provided an excellent platform for interdisciplinary collaboration, academic networking, and exchange of innovative ideas related to patient safety, infection prevention, digital healthcare transformation, ethical practice, and advanced nursing care. Participation in this international forum significantly contributed to professional growth, academic visibility, and knowledge dissemination.
