In pursuit of academic excellence and professional development, the Department of Medical-Surgical Nursing of KINS, KIIT-DU organized a Continuing Nursing Education (CNE) session on the theme “Emergency Management of Patients and Emergency Drugs” on 4th August 2025, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, at Pradyumna Bal Memorial Hospital (PBMH), Bhubaneswar.
This CNE was planned and implemented by the MSc Nursing students (First and Second Year) of the Medical-Surgical Nursing Department. The primary objective of the CNE was to enhance the clinical acumen, critical thinking, and emergency response competencies of the nursing professionals working in acute care settings.
The session was designed for the nursing officers of the Emergency Department, Emergency Intensive Care Unit (ICU), High Dependency Unit (HDU), and Neurosurgery ICU of PBMH, who play a pivotal role in frontline emergency care delivery. It provided a platform for knowledge exchange and skill reinforcement in managing time-sensitive, life-threatening conditions and the safe administration of emergency pharmacological agents.
The CNE was conducted in the gracious presence of respected Principal ma’am Prof. Dr. Niyati Das, HOD MSN Dept. & I/C of R & D cell Prof. Asokan.R & all faculties of dept. of Medical Surgical Nursing, KINS. About 50 nursing officers participated in the event. The comprehensive topics of CNE were as follows principles and priorities of emergency patient assessment and management, common medical emergencies and their nursing management, emergency drug pharmacology: indications, dosages, administration, their adverse reactions and their management through structured presentations. Refreshment was arranged for the nursing officers. To assess the effectiveness and impact of the CNE, a structured pre-test and post-test MCQ was administered to all participating nursing officers. The comparative analysis of test scores revealed a significant improvement in the understanding of emergency protocols and drug administration, demonstrating the session’s academic efficacy and practical relevance. This CNE not only contributed to the professional growth of its participants but also underscored the spirit of academic collaboration, teamwork, and leadership among the nursing students of KINS. It reflects our continued commitment to fostering clinical excellence and building competent, confident nursing professionals equipped to meet the dynamic challenges of modern healthcare.
