The Nurses Day celebration was held on 12th May 2025 in the KIIT Auditorium with great enthusiasm and heartfelt appreciation for the nursing profession. This year’s theme, “Our Nurses, Our Future – Caring for Nurses Strengthens Economies,” highlights the essential role nurses play in both healthcare and economic development. It calls for investment in nursing education, fair wages, safe working conditions, and leadership opportunities. The event was organized to commemorate the birth anniversary of Florence Nightingale, the founder of modern nursing, and to recognize the invaluable contributions of nurses to the healthcare system and society at large. This day serves not only as a tribute to the legacy of Florence Nightingale but also as an opportunity to celebrate the compassion, dedication, and resilience of nurses who form the backbone of the healthcare sector.
The celebration united students, faculty, and staff to honor this profession through cultural performances and competitions from May 8th to 10th. Students participated in Rangoli making, mono acting, open mic, dance, and song competitions. For teachers, events included quiz competitions, Sur Sangram, Bite Battle, fashion show, Rhythm Riot, and Beat the Seat, fostering creativity and engagement.
On 9th May, a deeply symbolic Lamp Lighting and Oath-Taking Ceremony was held, signifying a pivotal moment in the lives of aspiring nurses. A total of 207 B.Sc Nursing students and 50 GNM students participated in this traditional and dignified event, which marks the formal induction of students into the nursing profession. The highlight of the event was the administration of the nursing pledge, which was solemnly read by Prof. Kalyani Rath, Vice-Principal of KINS. The soft glow of the ceremonial lamps symbolized the light of knowledge, hope, and healing that nurses bring into the lives of others.
